Ground Scan NZ is proud to announce the successful completion and delivery of the Seddon Road Pump Station (PS) Upgrade Investigations Project, achieved just in time for the Christmas break. This project represents another example of our team’s ability to deliver high-quality, fully integrated underground utility location, mapping, and verification services within tight timeframes and live urban environments.
The Seddon Road PS Upgrade Project required a comprehensive understanding of existing underground infrastructure to support planned upgrade works and mitigate excavation risk. Ground Scan NZ was engaged to provide our full suite of Utility Location and Mapping (Surveying) deliverables, ensuring all subsurface services were accurately identified, verified, and documented prior to construction activities.
Comprehensive Utility Location and Mapping
Our team undertook detailed underground utility investigations using a combination of advanced detection technologies and proven field methodologies. This enabled us to locate and map a wide range of existing services with a high degree of confidence. All findings were captured and processed through our in-house surveying and mapping workflows, providing clear, reliable, and construction-ready deliverables for the project team.
By managing the entire process internally, Ground Scan NZ maintained full accountability for the accuracy and consistency of the final outputs, giving stakeholders confidence that the information supplied could be relied upon for critical decision-making.
Hydro-Excavation for Service Verification
To further reduce uncertainty and confirm the precise location and depth of key services, hydro-excavation was carried out at nominated verification points. This non-destructive excavation method allowed for safe exposure of underground assets without compromising their integrity, while also minimising disruption to the surrounding environment.
The combination of non-invasive locating techniques and targeted hydro-excavation ensured that all critical services were positively identified, supporting safe design development and future construction works.

Given the project’s location within an active roadway corridor, traffic management was a critical component of the works. Ground Scan NZ carefully planned and coordinated traffic control measures to maintain safety for our crew, road users, and the wider public. All activities were carried out efficiently and professionally, with minimal disruption to local traffic flows.
