Subsurface Mapping
Using the latest technology GPR and GPS systems, we can provide our clients with full 3D imaging of the subsurface, including all underground assets and structures, in a format that can be uploaded directly into your CAD software.
SERVICE DETAILS
No two job sites are the same, however our Professional Utility Locators will typically approach each job following the same proven methodology. This includes the following steps:
Using the techniques detailed on our Utility Location Services page, our experienced Utility Location operators will first locate, identify and mark out all services and underground assets on the project site.
Using our advanced Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment, linked to the latest GPS technology, we carefully step out and methodically scan the entire project area.
During this process, our experienced operators will validate the assets located in step 1, and note any further ‘points of interest’ (ie. buried tanks, foreign debris or subsurface voids) that present themselves on the GPR display unit.
While still onsite, our operator will input the static information regarding the location and depth of the utilities located in Step 1 into the GPR control unit and check to ensure no anomalies are present in the data.
This step is usually performed back at our offices in Matangi, where we have access to advanced software, strong coffee and a comfy chair.
Using the proprietary GPR software, we use the data collected in the field to produce full-site, GoogleMaps supported, 3D Subsurface Maps. These maps are highly detailed and incredibly accurate; and provide a valuable insight into what lay beneath your project site.
Depending on the specific needs of each client, our project deliverables range from simple onsite, above-ground markings, to full-site, GPS-aided, 3D Subsurface Mapping.
Unless otherwise agreed, deliverables are made available, via a dedicated and secure shared drive, by 9am the morning after the job was undertaken.
