Kaipaki Road RAB Investigations

Kaipaki Road RAB Investigations

Ground Scan NZ was engaged by our client to provide a detailed underground utility investigation in preparation for an intersection upgrade to a roundabout on Kaipaki Road, Cambridge. Accurate utility information was critical to minimise construction risks and support the safe redesign of this busy intersection.

Our team began the project by pre-locating all known utilities, establishing a clear understanding of existing services before site works commenced. This preparatory step allowed us to plan efficiently and coordinate subsequent activities with minimal disruption.

Following the pre-locating phase, we organized full traffic management for the intersection, ensuring the safety of both the public and our team during on-site investigations. To achieve the highest level of accuracy, we employed hydro-vac excavation to expose and confirm the locations of all utilities, elevating the data to QL-A standard. This approach provided precise and verifiable information on both known and previously unidentified services.

All located utilities were then surveyed using GPS to create accurate as-built records, ensuring that every service was correctly positioned within the project’s spatial framework. The final deliverables were provided in both DWG and survey-grade PDF formats, giving the client clear, actionable data for design and construction purposes.

Through careful planning, advanced hydro-vac techniques, and precise survey practices, Ground Scan NZ delivered a reliable and comprehensive solution. The Kaipaki Road project demonstrates our ability to combine utility pre-locating, high-accuracy verification, and thorough documentation, providing our client with the confidence and information needed to safely proceed with critical intersection upgrades.

A big thanks to our friends at CST Group Limited for providing fast and efficient Hydro-Excavation Services on this project.
